Christening
Sacred Heart Church, Melrose Park, Illinois, December 1958. My Godmother's husband must have taken this snapshot; recall Parents and Grandparents do not, in our culture, attend baptisms.

It would be nice to have a little snow.
Suburban Chicago, December 1964. I never was good at shaping snowballs.
Borganza coats were popular in the 1960s. Borganza "fur" slightly resembled sheared beaver: fashion's answer to Naugahyde.

Holiday Window
Chicago Loop, Illinois, December 1962. We used to dress nicely to go shopping downtown.
My outfit was red, and the coat featured a rabbit-fur collar.

November Coats
Toronto, Ontario, Canada, about 1949. The women are dressed for the colder weather. Toronto Al's Dad, Vladas, is on the far right. (Additional photos from this day appeared here and here.)
Thanks to Toronto Al for making this photo available to us.
ADDED: My Toronto Cousin reports that the other man is Vladas's Dad.

A Red Coat
O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, March 1963. I had seen the photos Dad took when JFK spoke at the O'Hare dedication, but I only now saw this clip among our home movies. That means Mom likely went to the event because she was the one who usually did the filming.

Morning Arrival
Venice, Italy, November 1983. I've arrived at the Piazzetta San Marco, and I'm under the porticos of the Palazzo Ducale. It's not as chilly as it looks; it's just fur-coat season.
(The fellow climbing the steps of the Marciana Library is wearing a Loden coat.)

Winter Sitting
Kaunas, Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, probably late 1950s. Suzanne—the maternal Grandmother of my Kaunas Cousin—engages in the custom of posing in her cold-weather wear.
