Suburban Chicago, December 1964. The children from our Lithuanian school join in another round of "Jurgelis Meistrelis." I'm the girl with the eyeglasses; my friend Kris wears a plaid skirt and faces the camera.
My impression of those years also was of a series of basements: in my case, the dreaded Brownies/Girl Scouts. Even at the time, it seemed a tad Baader-Meinhof. Without photographs or extant witnesses, I find myself often doubting the now-unverifiable details. Who took this one, I wonder.
Wishing you a joyful Christmas, and a New Year of peace and light, Irene.
Yes! I was a Girl Scout for.a short time, and our troop also met in the basement (in the same basement as the one in this photo). New Yea's Eve would not have been the same without basements.
I also wish you a happy Christmas season. Thanks for visiting the blog; I appreciate your visits.
