Identify the ceremony.

Near Seligenstadt, Germany, about 1947 or 1948. The scouts from the Displaced Persons camp engage in a ritual. I was not a Lithuanian scout, so I cannot determine the significance of the ceremony. Can any of my scouting readers identify what activity transpires here?

One of two things are happening. Possibly a new scout is giving his oath "įžodis" after completing prerequisites to become a scout, but I do not see anyone doing so. Usually the scout candidate would stand in the middle and face the flag. The other option is that the scouts are saluting the flag as it is being raised in the morning or lowered in the evening. The "didysis saliutas" (high salute) was used as a form of reverence.
