Olympic Sweaters, in Three Takes
Ralph
Lauren again produced uniforms for the 2014 Sochi
Olympics. This time, the garments are American
made (recall the controversy
that erupted during the London
Olympics).
Wouldn't the sweaters be more attractive without the "Polo" centered on the pieces? Compare the sweaters Dale of Norway created for the Norwegian and American ski teams.
Dale of Norway also published its Olympic sweaters as knitting patterns. I've knitted variations of "Albertville" several times:

Life in America is good.
Here's another group that looks like it's primed for a Hampton-style, sportswear photo shoot.
These immigrants preserved their heritage while seamlessly assimilating into the updated culture of their new homeland.
All American? These folks are visiting Coney Island?!! This is my Dad's paternal aunt, Victoria, with her two adult daughters.
Victoria had an especially close relationship with her sister-in-law, my paternal Grandmother, Tatjana. I'll have more to say about that later.
Coney Island Beach, New York, 1952. Victoria—the sister of my paternal Grandfather, Vytautas—and her daughters enjoy a crisp visit to the beach.

Every generation of college kids looks great.
These students resemble models ready for an all-American, tailored fashion shoot.

We'll be just fine.
