It's picnic season again.

Near Geneva, Illinois, June 1968. Here's another image from that fashion-forward Lithuanian-school picnic. Both Mom and her best friend, Donna, have brought their gold, vinyl knitting bags.

The woman on the left is Lily, and the lady on the right—wearing a dress—is the "Other Irene."

There are those legs someone at the other place commented about.

Nice pic.

You have a good memory.

Landed on your blog via a FB link. It is all very interesting. When I came upon this picture I froze. The "other" Irene and her husband at one point were neighbors of my parents in Harbert, Michigan following retirement. I knew her as well.

Labas, Milda. Thanks for visiting. It's a small (Lithuanian) world. The "Other Irene" was a tender, lovely person. I remember her from my childhood with great fondness.

P.S. Are you the Milda of "Milda's Market?"

Not the same Milda, but I would like to think my friend Daina (her mom) named her after me :) I am exploring your absolutely amazing blog, and finding photos of old family friends and even some relatives who lived way North of Marquette Park - Melrose, Oak Park areas. Plikaičiai, Gaižauskai, Linartai, and even Domanskiai. Well documented!

Thank you, Milda. I am glad you are enjoying the blog. Be sure to click on the "Picnic Culture" label; that will take you to images of more folks you may know. Domanskiene was my Godmother; I loved her so much.

If you are related to my friend LD, then you should know that my Mom went to medical school--initially, in Lietuva--with your Dad.
