Uncertain
Kaunas, Lithuania, 1943. One of the Facebook groups I follow is "Lietuva senose fotografijose"—"Lithuania in old photographs." The group recently published this photo. We were tickled to see it because we think the woman in the plaid skirt may be my Mom. The women are walking on "Laisvės Alėja," or "Liberty Boulevard."
Thanks to "Lietuva senose fotografijose" for giving me permission to post the photo here.

Saturday on Michigan Avenue
Michigan
Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, Summer 1943. The woman in the center is Louise,
my Best Friend's mother. Two of her sisters, Annie (left) and Rose (right),
walk alongside Louise. Louise's third sister, Mame, must have taken the photo.

"Time passes, but our friendship won't."
That's what my Dad's friend wrote on the back of this photo:
Tartu, Estonia, 1943. This woman gave my Dad the snapshot on August 17, 1944. Her inscription reminds me of what another friend said.

Aproned
Kaunas, Lithuania, about 1943. This is my Mom as a medical student. She sat for this photo around the time Vytautas Magnus University reopened after the first Soviet occupation.

Unpredictable
Kaunas, Lithuania, 1943. Mom sat for this portrait less than one year before she and her father, Jake, fled Lithuania.

Another Mystery Location
Lithuania, about 1943. My Dad popped this snapshot of his friend, Casey, into an envelope marked "Lietuva," or "Lithuania." If you know the location at which Dad took this photo, then please leave a comment.

Another Study Break
Kaunas, Lithuania, 1942 or 1943. Some of my Mom's medical-school classmates at Vytautas Magnus University share a laugh.
