Grab a Book: Memento Edition

Kaunas, Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, 1958. A friend sends this tranquil image to my paternal Grandmother, Tatjana. The woman also appeared, seated, in the center of this photo.

I seem to remember reading something similar about Name Days in an old Sherlock Holmes story.

I'd imagine for the kids born around Christmas, it takes some of the sting out of sharing the day.

Each year, we get a calendar published by a Lithuanian-American newspaper. The calendar designates every day with the name of the saint that is celebrated on that date.

We used to get something similar from one of the Catholic charities.
