Each year, we get a calendar published by a Lithuanian-American newspaper. The calendar designates every day with the name of the saint that is celebrated on that date.

I seem to remember reading something similar about Name Days in an old Sherlock Holmes story.
I'd imagine for the kids born around Christmas, it takes some of the sting out of sharing the day.
