We wish you were here.

Kaunas, Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, June 1958. A group of my paternal Grandmother Tatjana's friends gather to celebrate a Name Day. In Lithuania, like in other Eastern European countries, people ignore birthdays and instead make a holiday out of Name Days. The friend of Tatjana who sent this snapshot wrote on the back of the photo, "You'll recognize many faces here."
