We're staying in the kitchen.

Suburban Chicago, June 1961. My paternal Grandmother, Tatjana, relaxes at the kitchen table after serving dinner. She's wearing the familiar light-green "house dress" that featured embroidered flowers. Tatjana was in her early sixties when Dad took this photo.

Behind Tatjana is the door that leads to the backyard staircase. My high chair stands near that door. The Roper gas cooktop lasted over thirty years, and the fan above the cooktop operated perfectly for about the same length of time.
