Related by Marriage: Shake!

When Mr. Irene's Dad was living in the American-occupied zone of Germany as a Displaced Person, he worked for the U.S. Army. His job was to train military dogs.

Mr. Irene's Dad was in charge of "Arno," an impressive German Shepherd who guarded the barracks area. The two became very close. When Mr. Irene's Dad emigrated to the United States, another trainer took over the task of working with Arno. Arno never adjusted to the loss of his first master, and he became aggressive.

Mr. Irene's Dad never lost his love of dogs.

Kaiserslautern, Germany, June or July 1948. Arno properly greets Mr. Irene's Dad.
