Recreation Time
Suburban Chicago, Autumn 1961. My Mom knits while my paternal Grandmother, Tatjana, takes another nap. This is how the Rec Room looked before my Parents redecorated it. Finances were tight before they launched that project, so Mom decorated the room with her Father's paint-by-numbers. I can't make out what the reindeerish thingy is that hangs on the wall behind Tatjana.

For a second, it looked like they were mad at each other.
That's a familiar look on my Mom's face; she mas that expression when she focuses on a tricky knitting spot. She"s probably counting.
