Connected


Schweinfurt, Germany, about 1947. In this group of scouts, my Dad is the fellow standing next to the woman in the dark jacket. Dad's twin sister, Jonė, is the third female face from the right.

If you hadn't said, I would have said they look like a composite group of Kriegsmarine and Hitler Youth.

I only meant they were blond, handsome young people in the uniforms of that period.

It just struck me odd how it took a while for the culture to move.

I can see that. The Lithuanian scouting uniforms predated the war, so I think the fashion didn't dovetail with the situation.
