Post-War Calm

Bavaria, Germany, about 1946 or 1947. Here's another image Dad brought from Bavaria, an area he toured when he was a Displaced Person.

Bavaria was spared much of the fighting in the war.

Had the National Redoubt (a fortified area used for long-term guerilla warfare similar to what Jefferson Davis wanted as the Confederate armies were nearing their last days in spring 1865) existed, the area would have been as devastated as the Ruhr.
