Chicago, Illinois, October 1950. Mr. Irene's Dad—on the far left—joins with friends to send his brother, Ignas (center), off to the U.S. Army. The Army drafted Ignas shortly after the Korean War erupted. Ignas completed his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and in San Antonio, Texas.
