Absorbing Conversation
Suburban Chicago, January 1964. I love this dinner-party shot because no one is aware that my Dad is taking a photograph. It must have been a big party because my Mom, on the left—wearing an apron over her home sewn, avocado-green cocktail dress—has pulled a living-room chair up to the table, and my Dad has brought the mahogany desk chair down from the Master Bedroom. It looks like we're serving a Napoleonas for dessert.
