When My Mom and my maternal Grandfather, Jake, fled Lithuania, they traveled for two weeks in the box car of a refugee train. The train headed west. Mom and Jake first stopped in the city of Breslau. Breslau was something of a refugee hub during the last year of the war.
Breslau, Germany, August 1944. My Mom and her fellow travelers walk through the city of Breslau.
