Meškė

Our first dog, Gigi, lived just over nineteen years. She was especially close to my Dad.

After Gigi died, a tender, apricot Poodle, Meškė ("Teddy Bear" in Lithuanian), came to live with my Parents. Meškė loved riding in the car. By the age of about twenty weeks, Meškė was expert at making the six-hour trip from Chicago to Door County, Wisconsin.

Door County, Wisconsin, March 1983. My Dad—wearing his navy-blue beret—craddles the puppy, Meškė, upon their arrival for a short vacation. She needs a haircut.
