Ski season approaches.
I mentioned earlier that my Dad was an expert cross-country skier. He started skiing as a young man in Lithuania, and he returned to the sport in middle age, when he and my Mom spent more time in Door County, Wisconsin.
Whenever Dad skied, Dad wore his navy-blue beret, and our Poodle, Gigi, accompanied him. Gigi was extraordinarily bonded to my Dad, and she would run, unleashed, alongside him.
Door County, Wisconsin, March, 1979. Dad skis along the frozen Lake Michigan shoreline. Gigi, in her red coat, skips alongside him. Gigi was already fifteen years old when Mom took this photo.
