A Saturday Visit to the Waiting Room
* * * * *
Suburban Chicago, December 1972. I don't recall why we visited Mom's office that day. Perhaps Dad wanted to hang some more photos in the waiting room (where, like in most doctors' offices, the magazines were plentiful and outdated).
Notice the $2.00 charges for non-business-hours telephone consultations. I worked in that office as a receptionist during the summers; here I am sewing that blouse.

Wool and Sheep
Yesterday, I again returned with a friend to the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival. The place is starting to feel familiar!

Jefferson, Wisconsin, September 2015. "Ewe" probably know where I did most of my shopping.*
*ADDED: Yarn shopping, that is. I have four of those wonderful bags.

A Lost Sheep
Big Ben needs a sheering.
Merino wool is the nicest fiber with which I knit. Cashmere is delightful, of course, but it wears poorly, and it pills because it is so delicate.
Now, a company is marketing merino-wool activewear.

The Nativity display opens.
Melrose Park, Illinois, December 1960. The best part about a December visit to Amling's is the sheep. (I'm wearing those Mickey Mouse mittens.)

It's Sunday. Let's get dressed up and go to the zoo.
Brookfield Zoo, September 1961. We briefly visit the Polar Bears, and then we head to my favorite spot: the Children's Zoo.

It's time again for the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival
Yesterday, two friends and I returned to the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival in Jefferson.
We started the visit by pondering some of the bumper stickers in the parking lot.
We're not in Dane County any longer.
One uses angora yarns to knit these Bohus hats.
Angora Rabbits.
Show Angora Rabbit.
Although we saw many angora rabbits, the focus is on the sheep.
We watched some herding trials. We said, "That'll do, Pig."
The lamb looks like a creature that isn't big enough for its skin. Think Lamb Chop.
Waiting for the clippers.
Cooling off.
I was excited to see these puppies.
These are not Border Collies. These are English Shepherds from Goochland Acres/Asylum Farm. The breeder is doing a great job of preserving the line of these marvelous dogs.
The doggie wearing the yellow harness is a heart melter.

"The World's Cutest Sheep"
