The View from the Accademia Bridge
Venice, Italy, June 1989. I photograph the Grand Canal as I stand on the Accademia Bridge. The church on the right is the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. (See also here.)
Those motoscafi in the foreground offer a sweet ride.

The Patriarch of Venice
Venice, Italy, June 1989. Mr. Irene and I noticed this plaque in the Basilica of the Madonna della Salute. The plaque reads, "On September 16, 1972, Pope Paul VI paid homage to the Madonna della Salute here[,] pausing in prayer with the Patriarch Albino Luciani[,] later John Paul I."

Sunset
Venice, Italy, January 1984. This is the view that I saw most evenings, when I rode the motonave from Venice to my home on the Lido.

Do you ever wish you could be somewhere else?
Venice, Italy, October 29, 1983. This is the view I saw each morning when I stepped off the vaporetto at the San Marco stop.
