Suburban Chicago, June 1989. In the late 1980s, Mr. Irene's Parents hired contractors to transform their small home into a "two flat." Martha, the older sister of Mr. Irene's Mom, then sold her Marquette Park home and moved into the second-story apartment. Martha lived there until she and Mr. Irene's Parents moved to Madison.
