Why does this make me cringe with embarrassment on their behalf? I started watching but I was so completely creeped out by this I had to turn it off.
To be clear, it has nothing to do with the quality of the performance. They have great voices.
Do I perceive this as just a desperate ploy to be perceived as cutting-edge or modern? Even the US has military bands and choirs that are typically quite good, but something is wrong here.

It's tied up with nostalgia for the Soviet era, I think.
