Ilgiausių Metų!

Mr. Irene's Parents today celebrate their fifty-sixth wedding anniversary.



Marquette Park, Chicago, Illinois, January 1958. Everyone toasts the newlyweds by singing Ilgiausių Metų, or "Many Long Years." That's the song Lithuanians use for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, and on New Year's Eve. At weddings, everyone giggles when the song reaches the "many fruitful years" verse.
