In a lot of ways, the same Communist tactics of the Left here.

The line, "The Roman Catholic Church initially provided the only structure, organizing resistance cells around parishes, sometimes under the command of individual bishops and priests", particularly struck me.

A prof in college once said one of the best ops in WWII was an intel and resistance ring run by the American ambassador to the Vatican, staffed by local priests and nuns
