Colorization, Today

I don't like the old-fashioned photo colorization that was common through the 1960s. I recall a black-and-white graduation portrait of a handsome male; the studio used pastels to tint the subject's face, giving him rosy cheeks and apricot lips. It was weird!
 
Today's digitized colorization process is more refined, but I still get a jolt when I see a familiar, black-and-white photo revisited in color.

Those were painted.

Today, it uses the same RGB values that are rendered in standard color photos.
