Ha! You know his most famous quote about his native village? He called Oak Park "a town of broad lawns and narrow minds." Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose...

Hi Nora! I remember that quote; I recall it from Carlos Baker's biography. I also remember the description of Hemingway camping along the banks of the Des Plaines River--that could have been land on which my childhood home later stood.
