Related by Marriage: Do you remember plastic slipcovers?

Marquette Park, Chicago, Illinois, July 1959. Mr. Irene and his Parents pay a Sunday visit to Mr. Irene's maternal Grandparents, Stanley and Anna.

Although my Mom never covered our furniture with plastic slipcovers, I remember seeing those slipcovers in many homes.

The acronym PTSD mean anything?

God, I hated those!

I found it strange that people did not remove the slipcovers before guests arrived. Wasn't the point of the slipcovers to keep furniture clean so that it looked nice when one hosted company?

No, the point was to keep it clean, period.

Some of those guests were bigger slobs than family.

At least in our universe.

YMMV

PS Did you ever try to take them on and off?

Quelle ordeal.
