Kaunas, Lithuania, about 1930. Most of the images of my paternal Grandfather, Vytautas, show him in uniform, but the photos we have are almost all headshots. This snapshot, from that new
batch, is quite different from the others.

Do you know what branch of the army in which he served?
I'm wondering if it was the cavalry.
Cavalry: see here, here, and here.
He probably saw a lot of action on horseback.
Due to the heavy snows, horse cavalry still had a place in both armies on the Russian Front.
PS The verification word is, "edcreak". Is that an aspersion or do they know how tough it is getting up some mornings?
