Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Winter 1957. Toronto Al—my Toronto Cousin's husband—has built a impressive snowman. What did he use to keep the snowman's arms outstretched?

I'm not sure how it was done, but if I were to try to replicate these arms, I'd use a long stick. The right kind of snow could be packed onto a stick to make arms. Sort of like using a wire armature when making a clay model.
