A Shielded Snowman

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Winter 1957. Toronto Al—my Toronto Cousin's husband—has built a impressive snowman. What did he use to keep the snowman's arms outstretched?

Thanks to Toronto Al for making this photo available to us.

Those are impressive arms.

I'm not sure how it was done, but if I were to try to replicate these arms, I'd use a long stick. The right kind of snow could be packed onto a stick to make arms. Sort of like using a wire armature when making a clay model.

Thanks! I thought of the wire in a clay model, too.
