Suburban Chicago, April 1962. Mom shows off the new bookcases in the remodeled the Rec Room. The center panel of the bookcases already displays the folksy tchotchkes. Among those tchotchkes stands the "Lady Doctor" figurine. There's also a Matryoskha doll on the same shelf.
The remodeling project must not have been finished when Mom posed for this photo. She's sitting on plywood; formica covered that shelf when the remodel was complete.
