Unsteady, but Touching

Although I usually choose images for the blog based on their content and quality, sometimes unfocused photos capture a moment's quaint nature. I can't turn my back on an unsteady photo if it seems poignant to me.

Here's a snapshot of my Mom taken shortly after she settled in post-war Germany as a Displaced Person in the American-occupied zone. The photo speaks to me of the uncertainty of the times and the future.

Near Seligenstadt, Germany, about 1945. Mom still wears the black armband as a sign of mourning for the recent death of her mother, Jadzė.
