Camp Irwin, Barstow, California, December 31, 1951. Mr. Irene's Dad, on the right, stands with an Army friend at the base. Mr. Irene's Dad mailed this photo to his brother, Ignas, and on the back of it, wrote, "Brother! Here are two friends, left behind in the desert." I suspect he was referring to being "left behind" on New Year's Eve.
