I cracked up when I saw your photo of the chipmunk.
I was chatting with my neighbor who was working on some bikes in his garage. There was a very industrious Chippy running back and forth on the driveway, cheeks packed with seeds.
I'll have to show Maggie this photo and see if she reacts. She loves her Chippys.
