It's Carnevale Eve.

Find a costume and strike a pose. Just don't blow smoke in anyone's face.

Piazza San Marco, Venice, Italy, March 1984. The ten-day party whips up every Venetian. The custom is to wear elaborate costumes and stand frozen, like mannequins, in the Piazza San Marco and in the other campi (there's only one "piazza" in Venice. Lesser Venetian squares are campi).
