Marmot Interlude

Hoary Marmots are common in Glacier National Park. Think of them as large squirrels or chipmunks. Marmots are crafty pests. They steal food from hikers' knapsacks. They beg for treats. They run off with sandwiches.

Here's a series of shots my Dad took on a 1968 hike. The Marmot was our companion through much of our lunch break. You saw a glimpse of the Marmot in the "Back Country Manners" post.
